A native of Delmar Iowa, Kate Schmidt is an undergraduate student at Iowa State University majoring in English Education with a focus on the secondary level. In her year working at the Center for Technology in Learning and Teaching (CTLT) she has come to enjoy learning how to use new technologies such as editing equipment, multimedia stations and iMovie projects. She also really enjoys helping people and teaching them how to use these new technologies. These and other experiences have also demonstrated to her the importance of incorporating technology in the classroom because of the many benefits it carries for the students.

With an eye on the future, Schmidt sees herself teaching English overseas and/or possibly involving herself in missionary work in East Asia. To help prepare herself for her upcoming journeys and adventures, she has taken interest in a variety of English courses to expand her knowledge base. Influenced by her mother and encouraged by two of her former English teachers, who helped her develop her writing, Schmidt hopes to instill in others a strong interest in the subject of English, specifically in relation to developing their writing and reading.

In her free time, Schmidt, whose friends would describe her as friendly, hardworking and willing to learn, enjoys attending concerts, listening to music, and chatting with her friends via instant messaging.
