Jacob E. Larsen holds B.A. and M.A. degrees in English Language and Literature (University of Southern Denmark) and an M.A. in Applied Linguistics (Ohio University). In the area of English language teaching he has worked in Brazil and the United States and has experience in the development of advanced level courses, supervision of placement test creation, and teaching of general and specific English courses to students of a wide variety of ages, levels and nationalities. He is currently enrolled in the Ph.D. program in Curriculum and Instructional Technology at Iowa State University where he is a research assistant in the National Foreign Language Research Center (NFLRC) at ISU and the webmaster of the NFLRC, National Network for Early Language Learning (NNELL) and CTLT homepages. His research interests primarily center on the use of technology to teach language. Of particular interest to him at the moment is the use of online, self-managed learning materials to support advanced-level English courses.
