The Center for Technology in Learning and Teaching Laboratories (CTLT) is located in a technology-rich learning and research environment with state-of-the-art technology tools that include four computer labs, media production facilities, a model student-centered classroom with distance education capabilities, and research equipment for faculty and graduate students.
The CTLT offers hardware and software for students, faculty, and staff in teacher education at Iowa State University for instruction and research. Teacher education faculty and students in their course may reserve labs and check out equipment from the CTLT service (N031 Lagomarcino Hall). It is considered a do-it-yourself facility with staff available to answer questions. The computer laboratories are available for student and faculty use on a first-come, first-serve basis (when not reserved for classes). Faculty and staff can reserve computer labs for classes and meeting rooms at the service desk or by contact the lab manager at 294-6327 or ctlt-labs@iastate.edu.
Use of the CTLT is restricted to students, faculty/staff and departments within the College of Human Sciences. The Center for Technology in Learning and Teaching Laboratories was established to provide services and space for students in the teacher education program to complete projects and assignments related to the use of technology in teaching. The laboratory component of the Center is supported by department course fees and a portion of the computer fees charged to students in the College of Human Sciences, therefore there is a responsibility to these students and departments to keep prices low and equipment available for those students, faculty and staff. (effective 7/1/06). See full CTLT Use Guidelines
Printing in the CTLT is automatically billed to the user's U-bill at a cost of $.03 per page or $.50 per page for a color laser copy. Full capabilities for web-mail, the internet, world wide web, and other contemporary electronic communications are available. Visitors can observe this environment in action six days a week.
Students must present their ISU student ID and current course schedule to reserve and/or check out any equipment.
Curriculum Library
The curriculum library located in N031 Lagomarcino, contains 6000+ print items including textbooks, teacher manuals, and resource books that may be checked out for up to four days. Also included is a selection of educational technology journals, theses, and portfolios.
